Medicine Centers

When you remove yourself from the natural circle of life & become too individualistic, the forces of the universe defeat you. When you refuse to hear about other’s perspective on the wheel, you enter into a direct fight. When you agree to share & enlarge your minds together, a reality never envisioned before is conceived. This is the sacred dreaming together of our humanity.

Ohki Forest

For over three decades, Ohki has created three Medicine Centers, two in Chiapas & one outside Santa Fe, NM for spiritual retreats, ceremonies & teaching circles.  These important Centers at special locations on the planet have provided a place for international students to learn more about the vast legacy of Native wisdom. The living models of Council Ways at these Centers are deeply rooted in the dreaming of Mother Earth & her Council Wheel ways to support mature awareness & spiritual transformation for students & apprentices as well as her voluntary work of Red Wind Councils, her charitable organization aimed at serving the impoverished indigenous Maya in their struggle for autonomy.

The Chiapas Centers

Ohki & her daughter Amalia are the sacred caretakers of 2 Medicine Centers in Chiapas, considered to be the 3rd eye of the Americas by the ancient Maya from their prophecies on the return of the Plumed Serpent, Kukulcan, for these times. The main Center close to San Cristobal de Las Casas holds a large central Crystal Wheel which has served since the zapatista uprising in 1994 to call forth the renewal of Maya spirituality for the indigenous of this area as well as making Wheel connections with other Wheels in the USA. Their 2nd Center is in a remote location of Chiapas with impacting views of half of the state of Chiapas & serves as a place for Vision Quest retreats.

The Red Wind Medicine Center of Santa Fe, NM

Ohki offers study & practice in Earth Council ways at her Red Wind Medicine Center of Santa Fe, NM. Hosted by Red Wind Councils, Patricia Worth & Mary Jo Fernandez, the Red Wind Medicine Center (23 minutes outside Santa Fe in an exquisite location with stunning views of the surrounding mountains) presents annual teaching visits from Ohki (& her daughter, Amalia Ixmalé) who has come to the Santa Fe area since 1987 to impart her teachings & share her knowledge for over 30 years.

Set on ancestral land of the Corn Pueblo people (San Marcos Pueblo/ Turquoise Trail), 20 minutes south of Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Red Wind Medicine Center of Santa Fe is now the sacred ground for Ohki & her daughter, Amalia Ixmalé (about Amalia), a 4th generation Maya healer.

Surrounded by vast vistas of the mountain ranges encircling Santa Fe, with the expansive New Mexico sky overhead, the Red Wind Medicine Center rises on 5 magical acres of open high desert, bordering 20 acres of Land Trust.

A Crystal Medicine Wheel for planetary prayers & drum ceremonies, a native Sweat Lodge for purification, a Fire Dance circle & the Red Lodge Tipi grace the land for honoring Mother Earth, the Native ancestors & the beneficial spirits of all directions.

Red Wind Councils sponsors Ohki (about Ohki) who invites people of all nations & creeds to join with her in this dedicated Red Lodge where she offers guidance for anyone yearning to reconnect with the enduring spiritual reality of the Medicine Wheel ways, Mother Earth’s Great Map of Understanding, that is more essential than ever before. Her teachings in the US are a sacred legacy shared with all.

Ohki carries a vision of deep healing of the original Wound of the Americas – which was & is the ignoring & dismissal of the shared humanity & extensive wisdom of the peoples native to the Americas who have held this Earth in sacred trust for millenia. Through their prayers & ceremonies, they continue to hold this trust. We are invited to join our hearts, spirits & visions with them.

Ohki is a masterful guide on this path of healing the roots of racism & imbalance in our world & invites people of all cultures to engage in these efforts supported by the cosmic powers of these times. Her ancient indigenous guidance activates higher levels of inner & outer transformation in walking with this powerful Medicine for healing our souls & renewing our personal & collective vision of the world.

The magical ways of spiritual warriorship unfold naturally as Ohki generously offers her ancient teachings & practices that are most needed for further awakening in the world. For those called by Spirit to go even deeper, Ohki also offers a path of spiritual apprenticeship. It’s a rare & life-changing privilege to sit in teaching circles, sweat lodge ceremonies or private sessions with her as she unfolds the sacred wisdom given her to share.

Red Wind Councils

The Ixmalé Project is only one of the many projects formed by Red Wind Councils, the non-profit charitable organization that is founded on Ohki’s work & vision. For over 30 years Red Wind has respectfully partnered under local indigenous leadership to create strategically useful projects that leverage local skills and resources to best serve the needs of the impoverished indigenous Maya in Chiapas. Healing the perils of poverty & ill-health that the people face needlessly in an abundant modern world, in one of the most richly blessed regions of the world, is a primary goal of the work

Projects include:

  • Medical Emergencies & Medicines Fund – for the poor who have no means nor government programs for even basic care & medicines such as insulin, antibiotics, iron tablets for new mothers, prenatal care, x-rays, basic vaccinations.
  • The Agro-Ecology Project now in its 2nd generation & led by young women – providing seeds, greenhouse materials, transportation & guidance for extending healthier nutrition in remote communities.
  • Emergency Food Fund – providing life-saving corn & bean food subsidies during droughts, floods, earthquakes, pandemics & other climate emergencies.
  • Fogon Stoves Project – also in its 2nd generation in remote communities. These simple indoor cooking stoves minimize firewood use & are constructed to for minimal smoke escaping so as to drastically reduce the seriously crippling lung & eye diseases that, with regular open indoor cooking fires, affect mostly women & their children.

Red Wind Councils’ mission is to foster spiritual & social awakening through indigenous restitution.

Support from people like you is crucial for our determined efforts on behalf of the Maya indigenous in the magical lands of Chiapas – please share what you can!
